Employee Volunteering for Frimley Health Charity

News & Views Employee Volunteering for Frimley Health Charity Back to news & views We had the opportunity to visit Frimley Park Hospital to assist with planting & painting activities to support Frimley Health Charity with improvements to the hospitals G3 Stroke Unit. Over the last 10 years we have delivered a multitude of projects at Frimley Park Hospital, most recently the construction of the new G3 Stroke Unit, which provides much needed space for assessments and therapies. The unit features an enclosed courtyard, providing patients with access to a calming and tranquil space for social and additional rehabilitation purposes. The G3 Unit was funded through charitable donations and now with the help of our Neilcott employee volunteers, we have created an attractive and inviting space for patients, visitors and staff. We helped create an inspiring, yet calming outdoor environment by planting shrubs, flowers and olive trees within the courtyard. At Neilcott, we are always seeking for ways to give back to the community and continue to identify opportunities for us to help out with important volunteering initiatives such as this one.   Next

Project Completion: The Crick Institute

News & Views Project Completion: The Crick Institute Back to news & views We are thrilled to have reached practical completion at the Crick, where we have delivered an ambitious ‘Skylab’, a highly-technical and complex build to provide an additional two floors of laboratory and office space – on the 8th floor rooftop of the Francis Crick Institute, in-between the iconic canopies. This has been a truly inspirational project to be involved with, requiring diligent technical and logistical planning from the outset and extremely close collaboration throughout. It’s great to see the Skylab built, operating and providing space for science.Remaining operational 24/7, 365 days a year, with 1500 staff, including 1250 scientists running critical, highly-sensitive experiments 24/7, the project required in-depth collaborative planning and ongoing communication to ensure that operations remained ‘business as usual’. In-line with the Crick’s ethos, sustainability has also been a key priority and the project has been designed and built to achieve a ‘Gold’ SKA rating. Next

Stephen Lawrence Prize

Stephen Lawrence Prize shortlist News & Views Our Chowdhury Walk development on Daubeney Road has been shortlisted for yet another award! Back to news & views Our Chowdhury Walk development on Daubeney Road has been shortlisted for yet another award! RIBA has announced the 6-strong shortlist for the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2024, with projects presenting a fusion of social purpose and restorative design. Founded by Baroness Doreen Lawrence OBE and the Marco Goldschmeid Foundation, the annual prize was established in 1998 in memory of Stephen Lawrence, a teenager and aspiring architect who was the victim of a fatal racist attack in 1993. Intended to encourage new talent and inspire others in the early stages of their architectural career, the award exclusively recognises projects led by an early career project architect. This is typically someone who has qualified within five years prior to the project’s completion date. It is an honour to see our project make the shortlist, which is a sculptural infill development heralding the beginnings of an ambitious programme of new generation council housing by London Borough of Hackney. Congratulations to all those involved, in particular AL-JAWAD PIKE, who designed the Chowdhury Walk development. Previous Next

AJ Retrofit and Reuse Awards Shortlist

AJ Retrofit and Reuse Award Shortlist News & Views Temple Building, Brighton Girls School shortlisted for AJ Retrofit and Reuse Awards Back to news & views We are thrilled to share that our project, The Temple Building, Brighton Girls School designed by Walters & Cohen Architects has been shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards 2024, in the category of Conservation and Historic (up to £5 million). The AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards celebrate architectural expertise and ingenuity in the physical and environmental adaption and upgrade of buildings, and the reuse of building materials and structure in response to the climate emergency and changing requirements of use. Works Neilcott Construction Limited delivered for the Grade II Listed Temple Building included the internal configuration of the Basement, Ground Floor, First and Second floors to provide upgraded teaching and admin facilities. The ground floor was converted into a coffee-shop-style space for everyday study and socialising as well as presentations, conferences and events. A library/study, presentation room and makerspace surrounding the main area are easily adaptable so that they can be used separately or together. Works also converted the basement into a music centre, with music classrooms, practice rooms, a flexible performance space and specialist music storage. Whilst the second floor provides a new sixth for space. To ensure the space was as functional and as practical as it could be, we conducted workshops with students of the school, who gave great insights into what they wanted for studying and socialising, particularly in terms of furniture.
