Groundbreaking @ SCC Lakers Short Breaks

Families set to benefit from new short breaks accommodation being built in Woking helped mark the official start of work at a milestone ground-breaking ceremony. The purpose-built £5.7m centre will enable autistic people and those with learning disabilities to enjoy new experiences while their families take a break from caring. It’s part of Surrey County Council’s major investment in specialist housing to help people gain independence in the right homes with the right support. The team at Neilcott Construction Limited Ltd joined families at the site in Goldsworth Park, alongside representatives from the county council as well as architects Atkins Realis. Also marking the occasion were Woking MP Jonathan Lord and representatives from Woking Borough Council and community organisations. The new accommodation on the site of the old Lakers Youth Centre will provide eight ensuite bedrooms as well as activity spaces and landscaped gardens. It will be the first such centre in this part of the county and will ultimately add almost 2,500 nights of additional short breaks capacity per year for adults with additional and complex needs. Check out the walk through for this scheme below: https://youtu.be/V8x9xg3VoF0

I started as an administrator within the accounts department at a local construction company, and became instantly aware of the amazing and varied opportunities on offer, from administration, marketing, resident liaison and HR. I was fortunate enough to be offered the opportunity to work within the marketing/bid department whilst a colleague was on maternity leave, where I soon learned of my ability and interest in pursuing a career within preconstruction. Since then I have worked with a number of construction companies, enhancing my skillset and understanding of the built environment, and more recently taking an active part in the delivery of S106 commitments.” Human Resources Manager: Toni Hodson Today we are shining a spotlight on our HR Administrator, Toni Hodson, who has been with us since February 2002. Starting off as a Secretary and shortly promoted to Directors Secretary before securing her current position as HR Administrator in 2015.
