Redevelopment to facilitate increased spaces for NYT to provide free and affordable drama opportunities that champion diversity, creativity and alternative routes into the creative industries. The essential upgrade developed this thriving production hub for young people where creative on-stage, off-stage and digital talent of the future receives world-class training and development opportunities. The project comprised of a new entrance pavilion, studio space, a 200-seat studio workshop theatre and rehearsal spaces, and generally bringing the building standards up to align with the theatrical rehearsal requirements of the National Youth Theatre.
“This epic and accessible redevelopment enables us to double the number of opportunities we deliver with our talented freelance associate artists and young people in the building and further expand our work around the UK and beyond. We hope it will be a national and local beacon of accessibility and excellence, that inspires thousands of young people to engage with the arts for the first time and provides a much-needed injection of optimism for our community.”
Paul Roseby, Artistic Director and Chief Executive, National Youth Theatre
