Homes for Nature Pledge

News & Views Homes for Nature Pledge Back to news & views We are always looking for important initiatives to take part in. One that we are really excited about, is the Future Homes Hub‘s, Homes for Nature initiative, led by the Hub’s on-site Nature Measures Working Group.  As part of this initiative, Neilcott have committed to providing a bird nesting brick for every new home built & a hedgehog highway on all of our developments.  With the numbers of red-listed swifts having halved in the UK between 1995 and 2017, we are eager to protect and restore our declining wildlife populations, which has seen the UK become one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. With hedgehog numbers dropping significantly, bird populations dwindling and habitats deteriorating, Neilcott is imploring others in the construction industry to join this important initiative. By providing safe nesting sites for birds, and access points for hedgehogs to roam far and wide in search of food, mates and nesting sites, we can help species like the swift recover and support the wildlife in the communities where we operate. One of our key goals for every project we work on, is to give back to the local community and so this initiative is one we are delighted to drive forward. We have put together installation instructions for our operatives on-site and are sharing the instructions for a Hedgehog Highway here, so that you can install your own one at home yourself! Click here to view the instructions. Previous Next

Painting Penguins for Mandeville School

News & Views Painting Penguins for Mandeville School Back to news & views The Neilcott team, including Project Manager Alex Bowen, Design Manager Marco Rabbini and Hemel Hempstead Regional Mark Doyle spent the day at Mandeville Primary School in St Albans sanding down, repairing and priming an array of fibre glass animals in readiness for the school’s children to brightly decorate at a later date.  This was just one of the community initiatives that the King Offa team have lined up, to help support the local community and fortunately the weather was kind on the day to make sure that Mr Penguin and friends looked brand new again by the end of it.  These community days are personally rewarding, and proven to have a positive impact on wellbeing but equally allow us to share time together outside of the work environment.
