News & Views Plastic Free July Back to news & views Supporting Plastic Free July  and have challenging ourselves to break the habit of single-use plastics. 📊 Did you know that the UK construction industry generates over 50,000 tonnes of plastic waste every year from sites? Or that the average office worker throws away 156 plastic bottles a year? 🌍Plastic Free July is a global movement first organised by the Plastic Free Foundation in 2011 to raise awareness of these issues and promote practical steps to reduce everyday plastic use. At Neilcott, we want to be part of this solution to plastic pollution, so this year our sustainability team have developed initiatives, both on site and in the office, to help our organisation make a difference. 🏆At our Orpington office the Plastic Free Lunch Challenge is underway, with 5 teams competing to see who can bring in the most completely plastic-free lunches by the end of the month, with plastic free prizes on offer for the team with the most brought in! Thanks to our Sustainability Intern Rowena Shivam for heading this up! 🚧Meanwhile, we have challenged our construction site teams to engage with as many plastic waste reducing initiatives as possible, including using a reusable water bottle, separating plastic waste from general waste and engaging with our supply chain to identify any innovative ideas. Additionally, we are rewarding innovative methods to reduce plastic waste on site. At our Staines Hub project, Protec is being used to recycle and remanufacture protective sheeting. We’ve also changed our water cooler supplier across all sites so that empty water containers are taken back by the supplier and refilled, instead of being recycled. As part of our pledge towards PlasticFreeJuly, we provided each of our employees a reusable water bottle to encourage avoiding disposable plastic bottles and to start thinking about using single-use plastic in a different way! 🎉 Thank you to our brilliant Sustainability Manager Leila du Toit, MIEnvSc CEnv for organising. ➡️ The Ocean Bottle that we have provided staff, was chosen because:✅ They are made with a minimum of 65% recycled materials✅ Each bottle sold has funded the collection of 11.4kgs of plastic, equivalent to stopping over 1000 plastic bottles from entering the ocean✅ The plastic collected is recycled through a traceable system, contributing to the creation of a circular economy. 📢 We believe that even the smallest of actions can have huge impact when we work together.

News & Views LDEUTC Virtual Work Experience 2025 Back to news & views We were thrilled to host 100 Year 9 students from London Design & Engineering UTC for a dynamic 4-day virtual work experience from 14th July-17th July 2025.  Working in teams, students were set a task to design a new-build facility on a vacant plot on the school campus, considering the build type, potential cost & benefits the new facility may provide. As part of the task, groups were expected to create a model (digital, sketch or physical) for presentation to a panel of judges, with clear reasoning as to their design choices. Throughout the week, students developed their ideas, worked through their designs, and prepared presentations, enhancing their teamwork, research, presentation and creativity skills. We were very impressed with the level of effort, professionalism and creativity of each group, making it very difficult for our judges to select a Top Three. Congratulations to the following teams who developed compelling designs and models, whilst delivering an informative and engaging presentation to our panel of judges: 🥇 1st Place – Shift Zones🥈 2nd Place – Nova5🥉 3rd Place – Project Construction Thank you to London Design and Engineering UTC & Kenan F. News & Views Project Completion: Kingston University, Penrhyn Road Back to news & views 📢 We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our works at Kingston University’s Penrhyn Road campus. 🏫 We undertook major refurbishment works at the campus, delivered across two phases to ensure minimal disruption to university operations. Works have included transforming the vacant library into the new home of the Union of Kingston Students, refurbishing the former student union space into a new Careers Centre and creating a new catering area, relax zone and collaboration area. ➡️ ✏️ The improvements made will support Kingston University’s ambition to provide first-class learning spaces for students and staff alike. News & Views Official Opening: Emily Lodge Short Breaks Back to news & views ➡️ We were delighted to celebrate the official opening of Emily Lodge Short Breaks earlier this month, which our Winchester Regional Director John Papworth attended. 🏡 A welcoming and purpose-built space designed to provide essential respite care for families caring for adults with additional needs. Featuring a sensory room, lounge and 8 ensuite bedrooms. ✅ This inspiring new facility offers a safe, inclusive environment where families can access high-quality short break services, supporting both well-being and independence. 🪴 We were also thrilled to see the planters that we donated, looking beautiful and full!

News & Views Topping Out Ceremony at Pelham Street Back to news & views 📢 A milestone moment at 40 Pelham Street! 🏢 ➡️ We recently welcomed the Wellcome Trust team for a small topping out ceremony at the East Building. To mark the occasion, they fixed the final zinc bracket! A symbolic step in the transformation of this disused site in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. ✅ We’re proud to be delivering a high-quality, two-story office that brings new life to this historic location.

Back to news & views 🏆 We’re thrilled to announce that our Fareham Live project has won an award at the South Coast Property Awards 2025, as Regeneration Project of the Year! 📢 🎭 Fareham Live is more than just a building, it’s a cultural hub and a transformative project for the local community, and we’re proud to have played a part in bringing it to life. ➡️ Built on the site of the old Ferneham Hall, Fareham Live is a new state-of-the-art entertainment venue, boasting an 800-seat concert hall and 120-seat secondary space. Complimented with a daytime café & bistro, the space will host pantomimes, top-tier musicals, spectacular live music & household-name comedians, whilst also offering a studio space to showcase upcoming talent or community-driven live performances.
