News & Views East Ham Education Links Site Tour Back to news & views We thoroughly enjoyed showing some of the pupils and their teachers from East Ham Education Links around site, where we are building a new single-storey classroom for London Borough of Newham. Education Links offers an alternative provision of education, and their aim is to work with students in such a way as to engage them in the process of learning, catering for their emotional, intellectual and social needs. Deeply embedded in the schools philosophy, is that all young people have talents and can succeed, and Neilcott are proud to have been able to facilitate a site tour for students to educate and inspire them on the different career paths available within the construction industry. We always value the opportunity to show end-users around the spaces we are building for them, so that they can see the progress happening within their local area and have the chance to peak behind the scenes. News & Views Green Roof Installation at Riverside Primary School Back to news & views We have completed the Green Roof installation at Riverside Primary School and we can’t wait to see it start to flourish! Green Roofs are just one of the many sustainable design features that we integrate on our sites. Did you know green roofs, also known as living roofs can:✅ Reduce daily energy demand for air conditioning in the summer by up to 70%. Keeping buildings cooler in summer and warmer in winter!✅ Help manage stormwater by retaining 40-90% of rainfall.✅ Trap dust and pollutants and convert CO2 to produce oxygen – plants are nature’s air filters! A study has shown that green roofs reduce up to 37% of sulphur dioxide and 0.2kg of dust particles per square meter each year.✅ Provide habitats for wildlife, enhancing urban biodiversity & supporting ecosystems. News & Views Forest Gate Community School Aspirations Day Back to news & views Our Social Value Manager, Jenny Bignell, thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at the Aspirations Day at Forest Gate Community School, providing essential knowledge and skills related to employability and the world of work to its Year 10 students. Students learnt the importance of first impressions, how to structure and write a compelling CV and appropriate interview etiquette. Thank you to Inspire Education Business Partnership for coordinating this event – we look forward to volunteering further as part of the programme. Next

News & Views Homes for Nature Pledge Back to news & views We are always looking for important initiatives to take part in. One that we are really excited about, is the Future Homes Hub‘s, Homes for Nature initiative, led by the Hub’s on-site Nature Measures Working Group.  As part of this initiative, Neilcott have committed to providing a bird nesting brick for every new home built & a hedgehog highway on all of our developments.  With the numbers of red-listed swifts having halved in the UK between 1995 and 2017, we are eager to protect and restore our declining wildlife populations, which has seen the UK become one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. With hedgehog numbers dropping significantly, bird populations dwindling and habitats deteriorating, Neilcott is imploring others in the construction industry to join this important initiative. By providing safe nesting sites for birds, and access points for hedgehogs to roam far and wide in search of food, mates and nesting sites, we can help species like the swift recover and support the wildlife in the communities where we operate. One of our key goals for every project we work on, is to give back to the local community and so this initiative is one we are delighted to drive forward. News & Views Excellent 44/45 CCS for Kingston University, Penryn Road Back to news & views A fantastic result for the Neilcott team, scoring an impressive CCS Excellent 44/45 on our Kingston University, Penrhyn Road site, where we have been improving & updating the campus facilities to enhance the student experience. Refurbishment works provide a new Student Union, Careers Centre, reception, new catering area, a relax zone, collaboration working areas & improved external landscapes. This brilliant score is a direct result of the teams efforts, including monthly litter picking, 0% waste sent to landfill & presentations by the Neilcott team delivered to Kingston University students, on the topic of construction as a career choice. News & Views Phase 1 of Churchill Court Complete Back to news & views 📢 Major Milestone for Churchill Court – Phase 1: Complete! We are thrilled to share some photos from the successful completion of Phase 1 of our Churchill Court fit out project for London Borough of Bromley. Phase 1 has delivered remodelling, refurbishment and fit out works, allowing the council to relocate from their current civic offices into the transformed space.
