Neilcott Appointed to Deliver North London Hospice’s Inpatient Unit

News & Views Project Win: North London Hospice Back to news & views North London Hospice unveils ambitious plans to rebuild its Inpatient Unit North London Hospice has unveiled plans to rebuild its Inpatient Unit at Woodside Park in Finchley. The project is the most ambitious venture that the charity has undertaken since the unit was built more than 30 years ago. After extensive consultation and research, including exploring several different options, hospice leaders concluded that a complete redevelopment of the Inpatient Unit is the best solution for the hospice to meet future needs of patients. Following a competitive tendering process, Neilcott Construction Ltd has been appointed as the contractor to undertake the rebuilding project which is expected to cost around £10 million and will commence in August 2026. The hospice will be continuing to provide both inpatient as well as community services during this time. A temporary Inpatient Unit will be operating from the Jade Ward at Edgware Community Hospital from 1 July 2026. It is anticipated that the newly rebuilt Inpatient Unit will open in August 2027. The project, Building For Tomorrow, has been funded through a mixture of major donors, trusts and private sponsors as well as some government funding. The hospice still needs to raise the remaining £2.4 million required so will be launching a public appeal in autumn, asking the community to come together to all support the charity, just like they did more than 40 years ago.   About North London Hospice North London Hospice receives referrals for over 3,500 patients with a life-limiting illness every year. Providing support for patients, their families, friends and carers.   Founded in 1984, they are the UK’s first multi-faith hospice and welcome people from all faiths, including no faith, from diverse communities within the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. They also offer some of their services to people within Camden and Islington.      North London Hospice provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients and families, friends and carers. They are committed to empowering patients through their vision, which is to provide the best of life, at the end of life, for everyone. North London Hospice is a registered charity, and their services are provided free of charge, but it now costs over £16 million a year to run the charity. Whilst around a third of the amount comes from the NHS, they rely on the generosity of the community through donations and their charity shops to make up the shortfall in funding.
