National Apprenticeship Week

News & Views Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2025 Back to news & views We have been reflecting on the significant role that apprenticeships play in shaping the future of our industry. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek is a reminder of the value of learning on the job and the power of combining practical experience with formal education. To celebrate, we caught up with a few of our brilliant apprentice’s to talk about their experiences and why they chose to join the Neilcott Apprenticeship Scheme. We are also thrilled to announce that Neilcott is now a proud member of The 5% Club, an initiative that promotes and celebrates employers who are committed to developing their workforce through apprenticeships, graduate schemes, and other work-based learning. Being part of this initiative allows us to continue our focus on providing valuable career pathways, with a commitment to ensuring that at least 5% of our workforce is made up of apprentices, graduates, and trainees. We’re excited to work alongside other forward-thinking businesses who share our vision for nurturing talent and creating pathways for young people to thrive. The Neilcott Apprenticeship Scheme Emma Nicholas is one of our talented team members at Neilcott, who is currently pursuing an HNC in Construction Management. Dedicated to both her professional role and her studies, Emma is a part of the Neilcott Apprenticeship Scheme, which supports individuals growth & development as they continue to build a #CareerInConstruction. Jacob Parks is currently working as a Trainee Site Manager and is studying towards a HNC Construction Site Supervisor qualification, balancing hands-on experience with academic growth. At Neilcott, we’re proud to support the development of the next generation of construction leaders. Apprenticeships provide the opportunity to build valuable skills, grow professionally, and contribute to the success of our projects. We caught up with one of our Assistant Site Manager’s, Craig Paling, on why he chose to complete an apprenticeship. Some inspiring words from Ronnie Halford, who has joined the Neilcott Apprenticeship Scheme as an Electrical Apprentice, on what drove him to choose a career in construction. Alongside gaining valuable hands-on experience, Ronnie is also studying to become a fully qualified professional in the electrical trade. Callum Warner is one of our Trainee Quantity Surveyors. As part of our commitment to developing the next generation of construction professionals, Callum is gaining valuable experience and contributing to key projects as he progresses in his apprenticeship. We believe apprenticeships are a vital pathway for young professionals to learn on the job while building their careers, and we’re proud to support our apprentice’s and their professional growth.

Award Win for Sidcup Storyteller

News & Views Winner of the AJ Architecture Award: Sidcup Storyteller Back to news & views Our Sidcup Storyteller project has won the AJ Architecture Awards 2024 in the Civic Project category! Out of 120+ shortlisted schemes, Sidcup Storyteller is 1 of 23 projects that have won an award. ➡️ Designed by DRDH ARCHITECTS LIMITED, the double-height ground floor houses the library and café, with a staircase leading to three acoustically isolated cinema screens and a community room. ➡️ Nine residential units are situated at the rear of the building away from the crossroads. The façade of hand-made, slim-format Belgian bricks responds in colour and material to the three other buildings at the junction, while the form hints at the Art Deco character of a cinema that previously stood opposite. ‘As a piece of architecture and what it does for the high street, it’s brilliant,’ said the judges, who praised the design’s maturity, timelessness and placemaking. Thank you to the Neilcott team for all your hard work to achieve this & congratulations to all of the winners & finalists!
